Dismantling Professionalism: In the interview process

60 min. duration

Description

We will explore how we can dismantle the oppressive pressures of professionalism by changing our practices in the interview process – which will also help removing bias from this process as well. There will be a lot of time for questions and discussion for the group to learn from each other as well. This workshop is intended for anyone that is part of the recruiting or interviewing process for staff, volunteers, or any process that requires an interview, but anyone is welcome to join!

Following this workshop, participants will be able to:
• Understand the oppressive features of professionalism and its basis in white supremacy.
• Start the process of reflection on how you can start to dismantle professionalism in your own practices.
• Learn some initial steps you can take to remove the oppressive features from the interview process
