International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Join us on December 3 to highlight:

  • the important contributions Canadians with disabilities make in our communities and workplaces every day; and
  • the ongoing work we do to promote inclusion; and accessibility, and how—together—we can truly achieve it

“Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world.”

This year’s United Nations theme reflects the commitment of the Government of Canada to build back better while leaving no one behind.

This includes:

  • a disability-inclusive approach to our pandemic responses, and
  • our work to create the first Disability Inclusion Action Plan

The Action Plan will include:

  • the new Canada disability benefit
  • a plan to create more inclusive spaces
  • improved processes for eligibility for Government disability programs and benefits; and
  • a robust employment strategy for Canadians with disabilities

These measures will build on the Accessible Canada Act and help create a more inclusive Canada.

We are engaging with:

  • Canadians
  • the disability community
  • provinces and territories and other partners on the Plan

Activities related to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) 2021 will be virtual this year. Please follow Accessible Canada on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates.

The event is finished.
