Intersectionality: Interactive Fireside Chat

60 min. duration

Description

Join us for an interactive group activity designed to help us explore our very own identities! Learn what diversity really means, and how our own lived experiences shape who we are and how we interact with and perceive the world around us. Embracing our differences and leveraging our own skillsets and lived experiences is the key to creating inclusive, high performing teams.

Learning Objectives

Following this workshop, participants will be able to:
– Learn the definitions of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
– Define intersectionality
– Define privilege and learn how to avoid confrontation or conflict from misunderstandings around privilege.
– Internalize the understanding that privilege is not an insult, just a fact and that you can be privileged in some ways and not in others
– Understand that each person in the world has a different set of intersecting privileges and marginalizations
– Reflect on the fact that our lived experiences impact the way we interact with friends, family, and even strangers.
